Introduction

Inkscape is an open-source, multi-platform vector graphics editor: it works on Windows, Mac OS X, and GNU/Linux. Inkscape is a powerful vector drawing application, intuitive and easy to learn, and perfect for anyone needing illustrations at variable sizes for various medium. Inkscape is a great tool for designing flyers, logos, signs, business cards, illustrations, and interfaces for software, applications or web sites. It is also useful for technical drawing or font design (SVG format), even if this is not its primary purpose.

Inkscape's native file format is SVG, a format recommended by the W3C which works perfectly with HTML, CSS and JavaScript – which might increase the number of SVG illustrations on the web.
