Get Involved

UpStage is open source and created by artists, for artists. It is sustained in part through the enthusiasm and energy of a vibrant global community of artists, developers and designers who love to collaborate on this innovative creative tool.

Here's how you can get involved with UpStage:

Artists' Community

Add UpStage to your cyberformance toolset for the creation and presentation of online performances. Next, share your performances with the global UpStage community. You'll meet artists who have been working in the online environment for decades as well as those who are new to the field and bring diverse artistic expertise. We thrive on artistic exchange, collaboration, experimentation and boldly going where no artist has gone before! Or not many, anyway.

Documentation

Do you have skills in writing, translating, proofreading, illustration or video editing? You can contribute to the UpStage manuals (this user manual, developer documentation and installation manual), training videos and other materials - everything needs constant updates and improvement!

If you're looking for something in the documentation and can't find it, why not offer to create it yourself? There are others on the team who will help. Email feedback@upstage.org.nz

Development Team

Do you have coding or sys-admin skills? Do you enjoy improving usability? Are you great at hunting down elusive bugs? Join our enthusiastic and motivated development team, who enjoy collaborating with artists to translate their wild fantasies into zeroes and ones.

Promotion

Can you write articles or edit video? Help to spread the word about UpStage by publishing articles, blog posts and videos, presenting UpStage at conferences or introducing the platform to students.Email info@upstage.org.nz

Educate

If you teach students of any age, introduce them to UpStage as a tool for live online collaboration, improvisation and creation. Invite us to give workshops and presentations, and ask your institution to install an UpStage instance to provide a safe and secure stage for your students' creative work.

Host your own UpStage

If you have your own web server, you can install your own customisable UpStage instance. This gives you complete control of who has access and what can happen on your very own virtual stage.
