This chapter explains how to operate a stream on the live stage. See the section on Streaming for information about how to set up your stream in Larix Broadcaster or OBS.
Go to the live stage that you have assigned your stream to and locate the Stream tool in the left-hand tool bar. This will open a toolbar at the top of the screen showing icons for all available streams on this stage as well as a "refresh" button.
Drag the icon for your stream onto the stage. You will see first a buffering icon before the video appears.
The stream has the same "lightbulb" icon as props and avatars; until you activate this (it is green when activated) your stream is not visible to anyone else. It will show as black and white to you, and you can adjust parameters such as the size, position and opacity of the stream before turning on the lightbulb to make it visible to everyone.
Once you have turned the lightbulb on, turning it off doesn't make the stream invisible to others. It allows you to make changes to the stream (such as size, position and opacity) that won't be visible to everyone else until you turn the lightbulb on again.
The green frame around your stream allows you to adjust the size, position and opacity of your stream. If you don't see the frame, click on the stream. The frame should appear around it.
Streams that include audio are locally muted by default. This means that you do not hear your own audio through UpStage, as it can create feedback. There may be situations where you do want to hear the audio of your own stream. Just click on the mute icon and it will unmute. Click on it again to mute it.
You can control the level of an audio stream through the streaming app (Larix Broadcaster or OBS).
Video streams are rectangular. If you would like your stream to appear as a circle, right-click on the stream. A context menu appears with the circular frame option. Click on this to give your stream a circular frame.
Pre-uploaded video will also appear in the stream toolbar of a stage that it has been assigned to. It works in the same way as a live stream.
Drag the video icon onto the stage:
The video will start playing immediately.
Right-click to display the context menu and click pause.
Just like avatars, props and streams, the video can be moved, resized and scaled using the green frame:
It can be moved with drag and drop, and its opacity adjusted with the slider:
Turn the lightbulb icon off if you want to make changes without your audience seeing them, then turn on the lightbulb to reveal the changes.
Right-click on the video or stream to see the green frame, then click on the cross. The video or stream will disappear from the stage. It is still available in the stream toolbar if you want to put it back onto the stage.
