Backstage is where all the preparation for your cyberformance happens. Here you can create, view and manage your stages, upload and manage media, and edit your profile. If you have admin permissions, you can also manage others' profiles, stages and media.
It can be a good idea to have the Backstage open in one browser tab, and your stage open in another tab, so that you can work between both.
When you log in from the Foyer, you will arrive at the Stages page:
The default view shows "your stages" - this includes the stages you have created, as well as any other stages where you have player permissions. To see other stages, toggle the green switch. If you are looking for a particular stage you can enter the stage name in the search field.
The stage list displays the number, name and owner of each stage.
The Statistics column shows how many players and audience members are currently on a stage.
The Recording column contains two icons: the camera activates the recording of your Stage - see the chapter on Replays for information about this feature - while the list icon takes you to the Archive section of that Stage, where you can find previous recordings and chat logs.
The green cog icon takes you to the Stage Management section for that stage - see the chapter Manage your Stage for information on this. If you want to duplicate a stage (handy sometimes during rehearsals), click on the yellow squares icon and give the duplicated stage a new name. The red trash icon is to delete the stage.
In the Access column you can see the access that you have to each stage. "Owner" means that you created the stage. "Editor" means that another player has allowed you to access and edit a stage that they have created. "Player" means that you have access to the on-stage player tools, but you cannot edit the stage. "Audience" means that even if you are logged in to UpStage when you enter this stage, you will not have access to the on-stage player tools; you will see the stage as an audience member.
To enter a stage, click on the green Enter button.
